Well that stimulus money is starting to trickle down to individual states, hoping to help stimulate the housing industry. The latest one is the ability to get free grant money for home improvements, if you are buying a foreclosure home.

Every day when I drive around my neighborhood or look in the paper I see a lot of foreclosure homes. You can probably pick them out in your neck of the woods too. They are the ones with the overgrown grass or maybe the mailbox has been knocked down. You never see any cars or people at the house and it just looks…desolate.

moneyMany people got way over their heads on these no money down or no document loans, which is what caused all this mess. Needless to say, these people are either losing their home because they cannot afford the payments or just walking away from them because they owe more than what they are worth. This turn of events is a blessing to anyone looking for a home as you can get in for so much less now plus the government is giving free money out to anyone who qualifies and wants to buy one of these foreclosure homes.

Now, some of these homes will be beaten down and not qualify but others will be in pretty good shape. If you qualify for the government money, you will receive $50,000 to buy one of these homes, which has to be used on the home in a variety of ways including using this free grant money for home improvements. Whether it is a remodeled bathroom or kitchen or a new roof. Whatever is deemed as a necessary improvement, you can use that money for it.

I know you may think this is too good to be true, but every once in a while something great comes along but if you do not jump on it, you will miss out. Make sure you find out if this money is available to you in your area and if you qualify. The government is always giving out grant money for one thing or another, but if you do not know that money is available to you and know how to go about getting it, you will be left behind empty handed.

You just have to find out if you qualify for some free grant money. You owe it to yourself.

Solar-powered homes are becoming more and more popular due to the benefits that they offer the frugal homeowner. Indeed, homeowners who generate their own electricity save a lot of money, not to mention that they are also contributing towards the welfare of the world. Solar energy is mostly seen in term of electricity, but did you know that it is also possible to use the energy from the sun to come up with DIY solar heating?

Heating, Cooling, and Saving

With a DIY solar heating, you can save tons of money on your heating. The sun’s energy can be harnessed to be used as an energy source for your heating system instead of relying on your local electric grid system. Not only is it possible to have heating thanks to solar energy, but you can also have a solar pool heating system for those who want to take a dip in the pool even when the temperature’s relatively low.

How Does It All Work

Solar heating systems have thermal collectors in them. These thermal collectors collect the heat coming from the sun, which can then be stored for later use. These systems can be used for your everyday hot water needs.

Hot water is needed very much to survive the cold seasons. Without it, it is close to impossible to take a bath or do any other activities that require a good amount of hot water. You might want to jump ahead right now to install a solar heating system for your home, but one thing could be holding you back, and that is your budget.

Cost Considerations

If cost is an issue, the good news is, having a solar-powered heating system need not be expensive. Companies might charge you a big sum of money just to get a solar heating system working for your home. They might even give you different offers which you might not really need.

The truth is you don’t really need to hire contractors to install a solar-powered heating system in your home. DIY systems for solar heating are now readily available for you to use. Not only will you be able to cut down on the costs of having a solar heating system, but you will also be enjoying the savings you could get that can amount to as much as 50% with solar heating on your back.

DIY solar heating systems require some equipment to set it up on your own. With good instructions, you can have it done right away without having to spend extra, thus further increasing the savings that you could rack up on them.
